St. Nicholas Cathedral of Da Lat
Landmark steeped in charm and architectural elegance
St. Nicholas Cathedral of Da Lat, Dalat Cathedral, or Chicken Church, is one of the top attractions in Dalat, named after its unique chicken sculpture on the roof. Made from alloy, this sculpture rotates with the wind and symbolises France’s Gallic Rooster.
The cathedral’s cross-shaped design spans 65 metres in length, 14 metres in width, and features a 47-metre bell tower offering panoramic city views. Its main entrance faces the impressive Langbiang Mountain.
Inside, you’ll find three sections: a central hall flanked by smaller compartments. The interior highlights winding arches, classical columns, and 70 stunning paintings by the Louis Balmet workshop in France. Located just 1 kilometre from Dalat Market in the city centre, it’s a must-visit spot for architecture enthusiasts and sightseers.
